While immigration and borders dominate political conversations, contemporary studio jewelry celebrates diversity and cultural origins. In our modern silk road, artist-goldsmiths, wherever born, often bring their cultural influences to the bench, infusing their work with designs, techniques and materials from across all our borders, interpreted and made contemporary through the artist’s eye. In the creative world, boundaries are fluid. Forms and icons from around the globe or across the continent may be the window through which the jewelry artist expresses her unique vision. Our group exhibition puts a magnifier on some of those influences and celebrates those differences.
