Steel Stuhrling Tourbillon
Stuhrling is the brand of complicated watches from Max Stuhrling IV, third generation watchmakers, who combines great dial design with the affordable tourbillon movement from Progress. Here, the Lexus Tourbillon 90032 in stainless steel 40mm round case, engine-turned dial with applied rose tone Arabic numerals, luminous hour and minute hands, day reister at 10 o’clock and date register at 2 o’clock. Sapphire crystal skeleton back, 31 jewel manual wind true tourbillon movement. In excellent condition, original strap and buckle.
A tourbillon, the movement visible at 6 o’clock, was developed in the late 18th century by famed watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet to counter the effects of gravity by mounting the escapement and balance wheel in a rotating cage, ostensibly in order to negate the effect of gravity when the timepiece (and thus the escapement) is rotated.
