Gruen Duo-Dial ‘Doctor’s’ Watch, 1930’s
Gruen created these classic collectible watches in the 1930’s, when they devised the ‘duo-plan’ Techno-Quadron movement, a movement that allowed the hands of the upper register to be attached above the crown, not in the center, thereby creating a large lower register to monitor seconds, a useful feature for taking pulse rates: thus, the ‘doctor’s watch’ nomenclature. This version is yellow gold filled, circa 1930’s, 15J caliber 877/8 movement in the long rectangular case, 21mm x 40mm with the corrugated bezel design top and bottom. The matte dial features painted hours at top, blued steel spade hands, and lower constant seconds register. The movement is warrantied by Aaron Faber for 1 year.
